Educating Our Future Leaders
Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. Our program provides comprehensive services to expectant mothers, infants, toddlers and preschool children. The program serves eligible families in Rowan and Davidson Counties (NC). The program promotes the well-being of children and their families by creating trusting and positive relationships that encourage parents to become engaged in the early development and learning experience.
Additionally, Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. provides early childhood education classes funded through the North Carolina Pre-K program in Rowan County.

Through funding from the federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program and other funding sources, Community Action’s Department of Family Services offers the Self-Sufficiency Program to families and individuals in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties who seek to move from poverty to self-sufficiency.
For those accepted into the Self-Sufficiency Program, Community Action provides support to individuals seeking gainful employment through education, and/or job training.

MEN OF ACTION
The Men of Action Program is a Male Involvement Program that focuses on improving men’s ability to be actively involved in the lives of their children, to strengthen families and combat the causes of poverty. Comprehensive services are provided to support participants with obtaining employment, vocational training, financial literacy, and parenting education specific to men.
