Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency Awarded Fifth Third Foundation Grant

The Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency (SRCAA) was awarded a $10,000 grant through the Fifth Third Foundation. The grant will be used to fund the agency’s centralized intake and customer relationship management system.

The Fifth Third Foundation recently announced a $10,000 grant award to the Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency, Inc. The grant will be used to further the agency’s technology efforts in creating an agency-wide database and a central intake process. The enhanced technology will help program participants access agency services/programs and assist in connecting families with services offered by agency partners. These programs and services are critical as so many families have been impacted by the recession and poverty rates increase.

A recent story posted on Yahoo identifies Salisbury, NC as one of the top five cities in the United States with what it calls a soaring poverty rate. “In Salisbury, North Carolina, employment in manufacturing fell from 15.5% of all jobs to 8.3%.” The article goes on to note that the poverty rate in Salisbury stands at 28.4%, and the media annual income is $33,000.
